Farm Friend Vashon is a volunteer-coordination service for small farms on Vashon Island, Washington. By participating you agree to the terms below.

The service

Farm Friend Vashon uses SMS to notify volunteers about upcoming farm shifts and surplus produce pickups, and to coordinate which volunteers will help. Participation is voluntary and free.

Opting in and out

You may opt in by texting JOIN to the Farm Friend Vashon SMS number after seeing Farm Friend Vashon flyers, Facebook posts, Vashon Island Growers Association website posts, or in-person community outreach. The coordinator may review and approve subscribers before opportunity messages are sent. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP. Message frequency varies based on farm needs, usually 0-6 messages per week; standard message and data rates from your carrier may apply. Consent to receive SMS messages is not a condition of purchase or participation.

No employment relationship

Volunteering through Farm Friend Vashon does not create an employment relationship between you and any farm or with Farm Friend Vashon itself. You participate as a volunteer at your own discretion.

No guarantee of safety or supervision

Farms hosting volunteer work are responsible for the safety of their premises and the suitability of work assigned to volunteers. Farm Friend Vashon coordinates communication but does not inspect farm premises or supervise volunteer activity. Use common sense; do not perform work you are not physically able or trained to do.

Acceptable use

Don't use Farm Friend Vashon to harass, spam, impersonate, or coordinate activity unrelated to legitimate volunteer farm support. Doing so will result in removal from the service.

Changes to the service

Farm Friend Vashon is a pilot program built and supported by Mycosoft. Features, availability, and these terms may change. Material changes will be announced via SMS to active participants.
